I wanted to mount the home switches UNDER the table for protection, so this is how I mounted them:
First a small angle iron drilled with mounting and switch mount holes:
The two switches are mounted with one length of shielded twin pair cable. The strain relief is mandatory.
All switch connections are soldered:
The saddle is drilled & tapped to receive mounting screws:
The top switch is activated when it contacts the stepper mount. The lower one will need a ramp/stop:
The switch wiring is routed inside BX conduit for maximum interference protection:
Both switch wiring and stepper wiring are routed under the SX3 base:
All wiring is enclosed in cable protectors from Advance Auto store:
Exit of stepper wiring and switch wiring from back of base:
The Y switch actuator ramp/stop:
Mounted to base:
After adjustment, the ramp/stop is bent for repeatable support:
Z home switch wire is routed through drilled holes in column. Underneath base, the wires join the
BX cable, then exit from back of base:
Switch is mounted to simple aluminum plate and screwed into tapped holes in column:
Wire is soldered to switch:
That's it. I don't use limit switches for steppers--Only soft limits set in Mach3. You could use these three
switches also as limits though.
