Slightly more expensive, but vastly superior to 7x lathes, is the 8 x 12 (Actually an 8 x14) which weighs 275 LBs. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=44859
If you MUST buy a HF mini-lathe, this is the one to get. It is a cut above the rest. It's still an HF product though. Quality may be hit-or-miss, and accessories are hard to find.
On the upscale, you can get the same 8x14 from Lathemaster for $319 more. Notice that the accessories are INCLUDED which fairly levels the list price. I think the LM offerings are much higher quality than HF and the warranty may be better. http://lathemaster.com/ORDERPRODUCTS.htm
But you must pay shipping, which adds $189 to the price--And that HF coupon lowers THEIR lathe price.
